It is adjacent to one of the largest Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) in the South, the Dewey Wills WMA. The WMA is adjacent to Catahoula Lake, world famous for its duck hunting. The Louisiana Delta Plantation is one of the most important waterfowl areas in North America, wintering between 450,000 and 850, 000 ducks and geese each winter. Honey Brake, nearly 9,000 acres of Wetland Reserve Program (WRP), is an integral part of the Louisiana Delta Plantation and soon to be one of the most important waterfowl hunting destinations in the world once it is discovered.

The Hunting

The hunting at Honey Brake is what waterfowl hunter’s dream of when they reflect back to the good ole days of duck hunting. The property is home to flooded corn and bean fields, moist soil management units, green tree reservoirs and every other cutting edge management technique known to hold and attract waterfowl. With more than 120 duck blinds on the property, Honey Brake never puts excessive pressure on the resident birds, assuring great hunting from the start of the season to the end. Hunters travel to the blind either in specially designed duck boats or ATVs for the short ride in the morning. Local guides that are known for their exceptional calling skills, knowledge of the property, and world-class retrievers round out this quality experience. Clients usually hunt in parties of 3 with 1 guide per blind, but with that being said we never mix parties. Afternoons can be spent enjoying the world class shooting facilities, including 15 station sporting clays, lighted 5 stand and duck flush, or dove hunting. Honey Brake Lodge is situated on Larto Lake which is ranked as the 3rd best white perch (crappie) lake in the country and can be as good as it gets anywhere in the world.

The habitat surrounding the Louisiana Delta Plantation is a combination of fertile agriculture land, green tree reservoirs, moist soil management units, and large blocks of timber common to the Mississippi River Delta. Waterfowl management is taken to extremes on both the Louisiana Delta Plantation and Honey Brake, assuring our clients the best waterfowl experience possible.

Waterfowl seasons are set by the federal government and vary slightly from year to year. Traditionally, the early Teal season will open in mid-September and the annual Waterfowl season typically starts in early November and continues thru late January.

The accommodations at Honey Brake are an experience in itself for even the most well-traveled waterfowl hunter.
